Similar to Paris, bakeries were quite common on the streets of Munich, pictured above. At one bakery, I bought an almond tart to share with the rest of my classmates on the trip. Pictured to the left is Professor Schlake trying a piece of the almond tart. The tart had a flaky crust with a sweet jelly filling, and the top of the tart was completely filled with chopped up almonds. The tart was delicious - the different textures within the crust really enhanced the taste.
At a chocolate store, I also bought a bar of dark chocolate with dried cranberries mixed into the chocolate. Compared to American chocolate, the German chocolate was less sweet, which I preferred because American chocolate is usually too sickeningly sweet. I also enjoyed how the dried cranberries added extra flavoring to the chocolate. |
